Please use the left navigation or the links below for information about Acute Medicine in KSS Deanery.

Welcome to KSS Acute Medicine Higher Specialty Training. During the course of 2010 the Deanery established a training program in Acute Medicine to provide high quality, progressive and family-friendly rotations across Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Starting with those posts that were not utilised within the London-KSS Acute Medicine rotations, the programme will be expanding over the coming years to provide overlapping rotations within KSS. A phased roll-out of the programme will start with posts along a central corridor from London to Brighton and will extend to Eastern and Western rotations over the next 3 years.

The new KSS program is being built around a curriculum-matched and contemporary approach to Acute Medicine training. A specialty-matrix will help the Training Program Director and members of the Specialty Training Committee match the needs of trainees to the programme and ensure a broad exposure to Acute Medicine and to Specialty training posts. The STC is working on an excellent monthly Acute Medicine Specialty training day programme and additionally is looking closely at the availability of special skills training – including the use of Ultrasound as well as Management skills across the region.

A key feature of the KSS programme is that it will provide trainees with a dual-accreditation in Acute Medicine and General (Internal) Medicine and will produce highly-qualified and very competitive CCT-holders to support the exciting evolution of Acute Medicine.
