Who Can Apply
KSS encourages all of those involved in the delivery of education and training within Kent, Surrey and Sussex to nominate for an award.
Eligibility is limited to those employed by KSS LEPs, extending to all multi-professional groups. Directors of Medical Education, Clinical Tutors, Foundation Programme Directors, Heads of Schools, Specialty Committee Leads or Chairs and Training Programme Directors are not eligible to apply.
How To Apply
A copy of these guidelines and application form are available for download on this page of the web site.
There are two ways an individual can nominate for a Specialty Schools Award; either by self-nomination, or by nominating someone else. Nominees must meet the eligibility criteria as specified above. Nominations should include a supporting statement by the nominee’s DME or Pharmacy LFG Chair.
All nominations must be received on the application form and include a brief statement of no more than 250 words addressing the stated selection criteria. Nominees must choose to which School they are submitting their application. If nominees wish to apply to more than one School, they should do so on separate application forms.
Those who have been self-nominated will receive an acknowledgement of receipt from the Deanery via email. Those who have been nominated by another individual will receive an email directly from the Deanery informing them that they have been nominated for an award and are being considered.
Selection of the Specialty Schools Award Winners
Each School / Committee will select a sub-group that will meet between the 25th of January and 21st of February 2012 to consider applications received by them. The sub-group will decide which of the nominees best demonstrate excellence in the selection criteria specified on the application form and decide upon an award winner.
Winners and unsuccessful nominees for the Specialty Schools Awards will be notified on the 23rd February 2012 by email. As soon as possible after this date, the award winner will be invited to a School / Committee meeting where the award will be presented.
The sub-group’s reasons for making their decision should be noted in a supporting statement. This statement will be forwarded with the winner’s application to the selection panel for the KSS Deanery Schools Award.
Selection of the KSS Deanery Schools Award Winners
On the 2nd of March 2012, the Dean Director will convene a panel to decide on winners of the KSS Deanery Schools Award. Three winners will be selected from the nominations and supporting statements which were forwarded from the School sub-groups.
By the 9th of March 2012, the KSS Deanery Schools Award winners will be notified in writing. Winners will be invited to the KSS Deanery conference being held in April where their award will be presented.
