Potential topics covered in a LEAP workshop
Each LEAP workshop addresses various crucial issues at the heart of raising awareness of the role clinical leadership has to play in the aspirations of the July 2010 White Paper “Liberating the NHS” and the wider desired outcome of improving patient care and the patient experience.
Topics can vary due to the interests of the local Trust, but key areas include:
- Defining leadership
- Leadership and Management
- The Medical Leadership Competency Framework
- Identifying opportunities for junior doctors to experience leadership
- Using standard assessments, such as Case-based discussions, to assess the leadership experiences of junior doctors
The entire day is designed to be highly interactive with an emphasis on actually getting colleagues to work together to explore leadership at many levels and put ideas into practice.
