Welcome to GP Specialty Training
At present, GP Specialty Training takes place over three integrated years which must include one year of appropriate hospital posts and one year of training in an approved GP Training Practice.
The remaining year will be a mixture of hospital and GP placements and in KSS we are increasingly providing more time in general practice in line with the recommendations of the Royal College of General Practitioners to provide all GP trainees with 18 months GP experience.
Trainees in difficulty
The KSS GP Deanery places high value on the support of all doctors in training and recognises that in some situations training may not progress as intended.
The KSS Deanery has guidance for those trainees who may find themselves in difficulty, and for those involved in supporting them.
For more information about our support of trainees in difficulty, please see the Trainees in Difficulty pages. You can also find more information on how KSS Deanery supports its trainees on the trainee support website
