GP Training Programme Areas and Map
The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery includes some of the most attractive parts of Britain. It stretches from Canterbury in the east to Chichester in the west and includes the vibrant city of Brighton. The area benefits from proximity to London and good rail and air links. There is also a long and varied coastline.

The Deanery covers around 4.2 million people and has 8 Primary Care Trusts, 14 NHS Acute Trusts, 4 Mental Health & Specialist Trusts and 3,500 GPs. There is one School of General Practice which supports 284 individual training programmes clustered around the Acute NHS Trusts
The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery area is divided into patches; East Kent, West Kent, East Surrey, West Surrey, East Sussex and West Sussex; the GP Training Programme areas are divided into these areas.
There are 15 main GP Training Programme areas, some of which incorporate linked sites;
- East Kent (Ashford, Canterbury and Thanet) operates as one programme area
- Brighton and Haywards Heath (the Brighton and Mid-Sussex scheme) link together
- Eastbourne and Hastings (East Sussex) are educationally linked
- Guildford and Chertsey in West Surrey work educationally as a linked programme
