Clinical Dental Technicians
The first cohort of Clinical Dental Technicians on the KSS Deanery course which leads to a Diploma in Clinical Dental Technology of the Royal College of Surgeons of England completed in the summer and 78 students registered with the GDC. The course passed the GDC inspection with flying colours and the second cohort is now well under way.
THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS FOR COHORT 3 HAS NOW PASSED.
To be eligible, potential students must either:
1) Be on the GDC register as a Dental Technician or
2) Provide evidence of Qualification as a Dental Technician
The course is planned to commence in 2012 with a series of stand-alone modules – which Dental Technicians can undertake as CPD, but which will be accredited towards the Diploma.
At this stage the details of the course are being finalised, and these, together with a series of frequently asked questions will go up on this website by April 2012.
The modules will include:- Impression Taking
- Infection Control
- Record Keeping
- Recording Facebrows and Occlusal registrations
- Taking intra-oral and extra-oral photographs.
