Interim Reviews

As a requirement of training in Higher Surgical Training, it is necessary to undertake a review of your progress to ensure you are on track to progress to the next stage of your training.  You are therefore required by the Chair of the Specialty Training Committee (STC), Mr David Gerrard, and the Head of School, Mr Humphrey Scott, to attend an Interim review part way through your training year.

Your review will usually take approximately 20 minutes.

To inform the review process, you are required to complete and bring with you the following documentation you have to date:

•             A summary of your log book- year summary and total summary of logbook.

•             A current curriculum vitae (dated)

•             A summary sheet listing courses/meetings attended during the year

•             A summary of any audit/research projects undertaken

•             Current training agreement

•             In addition to the above list – you will also be asked to demonstrate completed Work Based Assessments, your logbook, your mini PAT and your interim meeting with your supervisor are recorded, electronically on the ISCP website as you will be required to use the website at your ARCP.

•             Further information on the ARCP process can be found in Section 7 of A Guide to Postgraduate Specialty Training in the UK (Gold Guide) which can be downloaded from: http://www.mmc.nhs.uk/downlad/Gold_Guide
